Pastor jason schwartzman

I was born and raised in the Bronx, New York.  Although the Yankees play in the Bronx, I was luckily forced into a life of rooting for the New York Mets.  This life has offered its share of learning how to deal with disappointment and a fierce perseverance.  I came to Lemoyne in July of 2017 after serving as a pastor in Altoona, PA for 4 years.  In 2011-12, my family and I served as missionaries at a school in Southern India.  My wife, Michelle, and I have been married since May 15, 1999 and have one amazing son, Dante and one amazing daughter, Jahnavi.

  • What inspires you?  People going out of their way to do something nice for someone else.  People serving others.  Perseverance and hope.  There are so many others!
  • What are some of your favorite books?  Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell saved my faith.  Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller, Searching for Sunday by Rachel Held Evans and Night by Elie Weisel (hard to say “Night” is a “favorite” but it cut me to the soul.  Very impactful)
  • What do you do when you’re not at work?  My free time can be described as New York Mets and Disney World.
  • What’s the coolest part of your job? Walking with people through difficult moments and assuring them that God walks with them as well; that is such an honor!
  • If you could have any super power, which would you want? I would love to fly…but I’m a little afraid of heights so maybe I can just fly like 10 or 12 feet in the air.  Maybe I should just go for super speed.
  • What’s the best meal you ever had? The first time I ever tasted paneer was a magical moment.  Ever since, I feel like I say “That was the best meal I ever had” every single time I head back to India.
  • What’s the most interesting place your feet have ever been? From the majesty and glory of the steps of the Taj Mahal to the bitter horror of the wreckage of the World Trade Center after 9/11.
  • You’re at the local ice cream shop.  What’s your go to flavor? I’ll have a medium chocolate moose tracks in a cup, please.
  • Who would play you in a movie about your life? Jason Schwartzman, of course!  (No, seriously…there’s an actor named Jason Schwartzman)
  • Do you have any nicknames (that you can type here)?  Why/How did you get it? For about 10 years of my life, my brother called me “Shoe”.  I don’t really know why and I don’t think he does either.  Maybe I was stinky when I was a kid…..
  • Who’s going to win the World Series for the next several years?  THE METS.
  • When’s your next trip to Disney World?  Let’s go…..now…..come on……no, seriously…let’s go.
