- What inspires
you? There are lots of things that inspire me....a beautiful Spring
(or Fall) morning with bright sunshine and birds singing, a child laughing and
playing, but most of all I find it inspiring when the people of God gather and
sing God's praises.
- What are some of your
favorite books? My favorite book is Genesis....I'm still learning from it
and plumbing the depths of its meaning. I also love several books written
by Rabbi Harold Kushner, especially "When Bad Things Happen to Good
People," and "When All You've Ever Wanted Isn't
Enough."
- What do you do when
you’re not at work? I spend as much time as I can in my workshop
where I restore antique furniture: chairs, tables chests in oak, maple
and walnut mostly. I also restore the seats of chairs: cane, splint
and rush. It's all great therapy!!
- What’s the coolest
part of your job? My main job right now is being retired.
Sleeping in most mornings is the best part!!
- If you could have any
super power, which would you want? I'd want to be invisible so I
could find out what people really say in the church parking lot after worship
on Sundays!!
- What’s the best meal
you ever had? I've had so many good meals that it's hard to
say. But I guess the best meal I ever had was the last one.
- What’s the most
interesting place your feet have ever been? I think the most
interesting place my feet have ever been is walking the aisles of Westminster
Abbey in London, standing next to the tomb of Queen Elizabeth I, and seeing the
burial place of Anne Boleyn in the Tower of London.
- You’re at the local
ice cream shop. What’s your go to flavor? At Massey's in
Carlisle they sometimes have Nutter Butter ice cream...that's the best.
Second is teaberry.
- Who would play you in
a movie about your life? Abraham Lincoln (you didn't say he had to be
alive....might as well let my imagination run wild!!)
- Do you have any nicknames (that you can
type here)? Why/How did you get it? Lots of them...my latest
was given to me by Pastor Jason: Saint Michael. One of my
grandmothers called me "Mikey Doodle." I like Saint Michael
better.
